In the course of using our web site, you may choose to provide us with information to help us serve your needs. For example, you may send us electronic mail (via e-mail or through our web forms) to request information, make a donation, sign up for a mailing list, or you may send us your address so we may send you a brochure or other material. Any personally identifiable information you send us will be used only for the purpose indicated. Requests for information will be directed to the appropriate staff to respond to the request, and may be recorded to help us update our site to better respond to similar requests, but this information will never be disclosed without your permission.

The information we collect and maintain is used solely for program and donation recording and includes: donor/participant name, date of donation/participation, address, and the amount/type of participation of the transaction/program involvement. This information is used to process your donation/participation, generate receipts, research and answer your inquiries, register you for a care package and/or register you for volunteer events.

Donors may choose to donate anonymously but if no mailing or e-mail address is provided, it will be impossible to send you a tax-deduction receipt and thank-you letter.

OPENaid will not share any personal information on its members or its registered program participants (including the names, addresses and locations, photos or personal stories) without your consent. Access to personal information on donors, program participants, Board members, affiliates, and other volunteers is restricted to the Executive Staff and Board Directors.

We will not sell, share, rent, trade, disclose or otherwise distribute your personal information or the information you provide about someone else (including name, email, address, phone number, address, photos, other personal identifiable information) outside of our organization without your consent, except to the extent required by law.

We will NOT disseminate any information on program participants (including their name, photograph, location, address, family’s names, family’s address and other sensitive information) without your consent.

When someone participates in one of our programs, we ask him/her to provide some personal information in order to maintain accurate records, as well as customize and personalize the care package. The information we receive is strictly confidentiality, safely stored in our secure databases and only disseminated to authorized staff who will be coordinating program activities.

We are especially concerned about protecting the privacy of children. We encourage parents and teachers to be involved in children’s explorations - especially on the internet. We respect the need to protect the identity of children who participate in our programs or who allow personal details (stories, names, images) for our use. While we encourage them to participate in our program activities, we will not use their full names or any detail identifying home addresses. We only post children’s photos with their parents’ permission and omit posting names of minors or other personally identifiable information.

At times, we will have contests or surveys in which we invite visitors’ participation. Should you participate, we will ask you for specific personally identifiable information. Participation in our contests and surveys is completely voluntary, therefore, you have a choice whether or not to disclose such information. Typically, we request your name, address and post code and will use this information to notify contest winners and mail their prizes.

Our web site provides links to other organization’s and businesses web sites. However, we do not control these sites and are not responsible for their availability, content, or delivery of services. External sites are not bound by our privacy policy; they may have their own policies or none at all. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each web site collecting your personal information.

If you wish to subscribe to our mailing list/newsletter, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on our subscription form, including: four required fields: your e-mail address, first name, last name, and post code. Optional information you may provide includes: your full address, occupation, and any comments you wish to make. We use this information to customize our newsletters keeping you abreast of our activities and related issues that may be of interest to you.

Out of respect for your privacy, our newsletters contain an opt-out feature, allowing you to remove yourself at any time from receiving future newsletter mailings. Please also see our “Notification of Changes/Opt-Outs” section, below.
